No doubt Sir Pete will be happy with today's result and progression into the next round of the cup. We did it in a fair bit of style too with a fine 5-1 victory against Northern League opposition which is always tricky whatever division they come from.
Hoggy got things under way with an opener to steady any nerves we may have had after a good early showing from Horden. Bods popped up to net the second and everything looked to be plain sailing. Unfortunately we let them back into the game with a bit of sloppy play on the touchline and this seemed to give them some heart.
After the break, Horden looked to come back into the game but a free kick from Ash Allanson put the lead back to two goals. The free kick came from a handball outside of the area by the Horden keeper who, I thought, was unlucky to see red. It was a definite handball as I was in line with the 18 yard box but I didn't think it was denying a goal scoring opportunity (none of this "last man" mallarkey!!!) but that's just me and I know we've had our keeper sent off for similar in the past.
Hoggy then got our fourth soon afterwards and a fifth was added by Ash Allanson to conclude the scoring.
A satisfying result on a fine summer afternoon and I have to say well done to the lads with what could have been a potential banana skin of a tie.
